Centre of the Cell inspires future generations of STEM scientists and makes an impact on young lives locally and internationally. We empower young people through cell science, equipping them with skills to transition into higher education, with a specific focus on STEM and healthcare careers. Participation encourages better personal health and a more enriched life through knowledge and learning. Since opening in 2009 our award-winning project has hosted over 260,000 participants.

You can help us to increase our capacity to deliver our ambitions and to expand our reach, enabling us to be as inclusive and accessible to all.

Our key programmes focus on raising aspirations and giving a positive start to life for young people:

Children learning

Schools programme

Captivating the imagination of young people onsite in the iconic STEM & Neuron pods and through outreach to schools, bringing them the opportunity to participate in workshops co-developed with leading scientists and clinicians. The Centre’s schools’ catchment is wide ranging and open to all. It costs £195 to run one STEM Pod show for a school, you can ensure that as many young people as possible can be inspired by interactive cell science.

Work with us

As a collective we can have an impact on young lives and the communities in which we work.

Science is for all, it underpins the natural world around us and is the endeavour to understand ourselves, our environment and the universe.   Science is curiosity.

We look to inspire the curiosity of the next generations of scientists across multiple disciplines but especially biomedical pursuits such as medicine and dentistry, grounded in cell biology.

We value our partnerships, believing that we can as a community support each other and bringing about positive change in people lives, increasing trust in science and inspire young minds by opening up the possibilities of routes through science.

Working with us can take many forms:

  • Collaborating on a project
  • Giving time or space
  • Sharing skills and experience
  • Opening our networks to raise awareness of the great work going on.

Working together we can illustrate the many career paths in science.  Working at times with younger people who will not otherwise have access and a chance to realise these ambitions.

To support them with guidance, resources and confidence to discover their own futures.

Teacher feedback

We’re developing new shows and workshops, making them as accessible as possible, we’d value connecting with teachers to hear your feedback, tailor our experiences and learn what support your schools desire to engage your classes.

We’re here to listen and learn from you.

Artists

We’re looking for new ways to convey the importance of science, to capture imaginations and spark curiosity to find out more.   Some of the best ways are to deliver the facts and theory via creative outputs, help others see what intrigued and fascinated you into developing your artistic practice to inspire theirs.

We’ve had musicians and photographers alike share their stories and works.  Our Neuron Pod is a flexible space that can host talks and more.

We’d love to work with you.

Science centres

We’d be delighted to work with others who are trying to achieve our mutual aims.  Inspiring through science, making research and education accessible and obtainable to all and raising aspirations across the communities we all work in.

We’re here to build foundations and bridges with you.
